January

January was a great month. It was filled with a lot of laying around, taking naps, and playing in the snow. This last weekend we took our first trip all together outside of the house since Maggie was born. We could not think of a better way to celebrate than to go bowling. Isabella lead the whole way until someone went on a run the last 3 frames. I just couldn't go down without a fight.

Here are some pics from the last month mostly of all of us holding Maggie.

This last part I am saving for the end. Mostly because it might border on the line of inappropriate but it is just so funny that I have to post it. In fact I think she deserves sometyope of award or circuit on the morning news shows. I am sure Regis and Kelli would love to talk about this, maybe even Letterman could have a good time with this one. Isabella (bless her heart) has had a tough time getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Usually KaDawn changes the sheets while I help Isabella in the tub. This night for some reason I was going to change the sheets. This is what I found. Isabella is just full of love I guess. Or else she was dreaming of her kindergarten sweet heart when this all went down.

Thankfully this was one of the last times she ever had a problem. We like to think she was showing gratitude to us for all the long nights of helping her.

I just think this picture is awesome. Jacob and Daxton (Kurt' son) are cousins and best buddies. Every time the door bell rings Jacob asks if it is Daxton. We hope they stay best friends for a long time

New Baby

So here is how it all went down. We were scheduled to be induced on Dec 26th but you never know with those things so we just kind of took it easy not anticipating to much. We had some friends call about 2:00 and ask if they could come over, since we had not heard from the hospital we said sure. They came over and KaDawn sneaked into the back room to call the hospital. They told her that her name was not on the list, but if she wanted to come down she could they were not very busy. KaDawn asked what time and they said anytime. She we kept visiting with friends and decided that at 5:00 we would go. So we visited all the way till 5:00 and found someone in the ward to take the kids, until KaDawn's parents could get here. We got to the hospital at about 5:30 and after all the same old questions by 7:00 she had the medicine in her that makes you start to have contractions. They started coming pretty fast, she got an epidural twice because he put it in the wrong spot the first time. By 10:30 she was filling like the baby was here. The nurse was just chilling in the hall way so I had to gently tell her to get in here its go time. She did and was surprised to see in fact KaDawn was ready to go. Dr. Bean took a break from eating Ice Cream and came and delivered a beautiful baby girl. KaDawn is great in the delivery room. She should probably be a Dr. I think I am holding her back. She amazes me how she can bear children with such grace and eloquence.
We had not decided on a name, our first choices were Billy Ruben for a boy or Jan Dice for a girl. When she was born Margaret Paige came out of nowhere and stuck. We have been calling her Maggie. She is very cute and has been pleasant. there is a special spirit in our home and we are grateful that KaDawn and Maggie are doing so well. I myself am amazed that I someone get to observe their greatness. Last night I being the helpful husband that I am was up with Maggie from 11:30 until 3:00 she wasnt crying or anything I just couldnt lay her down. I then of course had to sleep in until 10:00 so I guess I was not that helpful afterall.

Christmas 2008

Today is December 26 and my first post. We had a wonderful Christmas and the kids are spoiled. We stayed at home because the baby is due literally any moment. KaDawn thinks that she has had two contractions. It is funny to think about how nervous you are with the first and now by the 4th we both seem pretty relaxed, two night ago was the first time we really sat down and talked about names. I guess I should probably blog again when we have the baby.
A little update on everybody. Isabella is 5 years old and loves Kindergarten. She is pretty upset that school has been out for a week already and that she can't return for another week. She is learning how to read as well as tease her little brothers. She is having a no candy competition with me that we have been doing for about a month, she is doing fantastic she tell people that she hates candy. We are trying to make it until her birthday.

Jacob is 3 years old and loves football. I am not exactly sure why football, his dad was the back up defensive back to a girl in little league. (please don't tell him that) he loves to tackle anyone that will let him. He also is very passionate about life we are trying to take this wonderful gift and put it to use into positive ways instead of crying tantrums and stubbornness.

Marcus will be two in March and has developed a very cute personality. He loves to listen to books read by his mother and play with his horse named Jumper. He got a sweet barn from grandpa Smith for Christmas that he is enjoying very much.

KaDawn is always busy being the best mom in the world. She works very hard to teach the kids and uses every opportunity she can to help mold them into what Heavenly Father wants them to be. She is teaching piano to some kids in the ward and is the best Nursery Leader our ward has ever seen.

We hope everyone had a great Christmas and we will let you know when we get the gift we have been most anticipating.

Getting Started

In an attempt to bring Ryan and Kadawn up to speed with the rest of the world I (Kurt) have taken it upon myself to set them up with a blog. What they do with it from here on out is up to them.
